Fall on the Farm
A couple of sharp minded readers quickly recognized the Chinese Chestnut nut in last weeks photos. This week we have a new offering of greens! Yes, the fall is a wonderful time to grow greens and ours are coming along nicely. The first round of spinach did not germinate, but I seeded some directly in the hoop house and it has sprouted and will be available later. Last weeks beets were quickly grabbed, and we may have more from a second planting later this year. Farmer Rick planted turnips in the potato field and the greens are ready for you. We also have kale and a tangy mustard (hello Terry). I have a little arugula if you want a mixed greens bag this week. The purple and white sweet potatoes were popular last week so we are only offering the orange variety for now. We still have some ginger to dig and plenty of turmeric as shown in the photo below. I always think the leaves look like cannas. We have LOTS of cilantro and I thought you would appreciate some sunny flowers and bees.
